God, Can You Hear Me?
I think no matter who you are or what you believe, we have all been in a place where we have looked up and said "God, can you hear me?" I know I have. This past year has been one of the hardest I have ever experienced, I have felt loss, and pain, but I have also felt myself draw nearer to my creator. This poem is something that was created out of the experiences I have felt recently, I hope it can connect to you.
"What do we do when our dreams don’t come true, when what we thought would be is lost, and what we hoped, fought, and lived for dies?
What do we do when the ones we love, leave? When we give our souls to those who simply cannot give theirs back, and we find our hearts broken.
What do we do when we are all alone, while the silence screams at us, reminding us of all the mistakes we have made, and the things we didn’t do.
What do we do when we are betrayed by kisses and promises of forever. When we stare into the beautiful “what could have been” and powerlessly watch it fall apart in front of our eyes.
What do we do when love becomes hard, and we face a broken world that threatens to make our love cold, and our spirits bitter?
What do we do when we no longer know if we can love, or even what love is at all?
Does God still see me? Does He care?"
